Post Burns Sequelae

Deep dermal or full-thickness burns produce scarring. Scars are the sequelae of any burn wound. The aim of scar management is firstly its prevention and secondary the removal of established contractures.

The burn scar becomes raised, red and itchy within weeks of healing. Not only these scars are unsightly, but they contribute to joint contracture and limitation of joint movement when crossing them.

Post burn sequelae management involves a series of reconstructive procedures to obtain acceptable, functional and aesthetic results.
